Mark O’Connor (Born 1961)

A native of Seattle, Washington, he is widely considered to be the most important fiddler of his generation. He started out on the guitar, turning to the fiddle at the age of 11.  Mentored by Texas fiddler Benny Thomason, by the time he was 14 he had won 3 national championships. He has successfully moved among several musical genres, composing, arranging, and performing bluegrass, classical, and jazz. He has appeared in concert and recorded with many artists, including Bela Fleck, Yo Yo Ma, James Taylor, Stephane Grappelli, Edgar Meyer, and Tony Rice.
